Release notes Lab management 1.1 (Jan 06, 2021)

The addition of FastFinder Workflow marks a milestone in the continued evolution of the FastFinder platform. FastFinder Workflow allows labs to track samples, plates and assays throughout the lab, providing a full audit trail and chain of custody from when a sample hits the first instrument in the workflow, to the point where the results enter the LIMS system. Orchestrating the sample flow, FastFinder Workflow is an integral part of the FastFinder platform and integrates tightly with FastFinder Analysis to seamlessly support analysis and interpretation support as part of the broader lab operations. This release also marks user interface and performance improvements for FastFinder Analysis 4.1.x. Lastly, the release also marks updates to the Lab Management component of FastFinder, providing centralized assay, instrument and user management.

The addition of Workflow 1.0 to the FastFinder platform implements key capabilities to track samples throughout the lab trajectory (cfr. Workflow 1.0 & Lab management 1.1). This capability is also available in the Samples module in Lab Management 1.1

With efficiency requirements for routine labs in mind, the team incorporated feedback from end users to improve UI/UX aspects of Analysis 4.1.

New features

New features in FastFinder Lab Management include the addition of the Samples module, allowing a singular and central view of the path a sample took across instruments and plates, as well as capabilities for Workflow setup.

Improvements

Target search was extended so that more filters are available and performance is improved.

CSV export capabilities were updated with additional column ‘AssayResult’.  In addition, the order of the target details (Target_x) is updated in accordance with the mix, dye and target order that are defined in the AP. An example:

• AP has 2 mixes, with 2 dyes (FAM, VIC). In total, there are 4 targets

• Mix 1: FAM - target A, VIC - target C

• Mix 2: FAM - target B, VIC - target D

• with an AssayResultTarget that is linked to targets A, B and C. The details in the CSV will be ordered according to:  

• Column Target_1: target A

• Column Target_2: target C

• Column Target_3: target B

Finally, the name of the Export itself is updated to contain the file name as well: Export-<file name>-<analysis external reference>-AssayTargets.csv. This name is aligned across manual and automatic download.

Fixed bugs

The following issues have been fixed in the Lab management 1.1 release:

• It was not possible to edit the quencher instrument reference.

• Target result filters did not take into account filters that are pre-set when navigating from the Dashboard or Analysis overview to Target results.
