Below you can find the answers to some frequently asked questions.
Q: What to do if I made a pipetting mistake?
A: The best thing to do is to adjust this in the cycler software. Removing the targets from a well will prevent FastFinder to analyze this sample. You can also adjust the sample name so it will not be recognized by the LIMS.
Another option is to manually upload the runfile in FastFinder and make the changes to your plate in FastFinder (remove a sample, correct the sample name, …) and trigger a semi-automated pipeline.
Q: I have some of my previous testruns in my home screen, how can I remove those?
A: It is not possible to permanently delete those files. If you open the files and click in the bottom right corner on reject analysis, you have removed the file from the home screen.
Q: I have accidentally saved the same runfile twice in the shared network drive. What implications does this have?
A: This is to be avoided, so please take proper measures into account into your standard operating procedures to avoid this. If the runfile follows through the automated flow, the results will be sent to the LIMS twice. For the invalid samples LIMS receives a second invalid result, which results in reporting invalid to the patient. Please inform UgenTec and mips if this happens, to see if corrections are required. If the runfile follows through the semi-automated flow, you can reject the experiment via the “reject analysis” button which can be found under the overall results table.
Q: How can I visualize my rejected analysis?
A: All rejected analyses can be found in the archive if you enable the “include rejected analysis” before you press the search button.
Q: The run I just authorized does not have a green checkmark in my archive?
A: To refresh your archive, you need to press the search button in the left bottom corner. In a next FastFinder release we will make sure the archive is refreshed when opening this tab.
Q: Can everybody be a second reviewer and authorize analyses?
A: In FastFinder we work with different functions: Lab Manager, Lab Scientist, QA. In the settings tab you can define the authorization levels of each function (enable/disable 2nd reviewer).
The FastFinder admin webpage (https://admin-covid.ugentec.app/) allows you to set functions per user (if your role allows you to do user management).
Q: My run disappeared from the shared network drive, but I can not find it in FastFinder.
A: If the run went through the automated pipeline, you can find an authorized runfile in the archive.
Q: During the first phase I want to review all plates, I don’t want the file to go through the automated pipeline.
A: You can manually upload the file in FastFinder (browse to the folder containing the runfile in the analysis tab), manually execute the analysis and follow the semi-automated pipeline.
